Hospital Tour!

Last night Rob and I went on our hospital tour, and pre-registered!  It makes everything seem so much more real.  Eek!!  We are now 59 days (give or take) and counting.  Wow....we are going to have a baby in less than two months!!  That is seriously insane.  Even though I am 31 years old I still can't help but think that I am too young for this!  Ridiculous,  I know.

The Pros:

1.  The hospital seems very pro-Breast Feeding, and have a great team of lacation consultants.

2.  The hospital really understands and promotes the importance of skin-on-skin time with baby!

3.  Baby stays in the same room with mom!

The Cons:

1.  The hospital only has shared room,  but at least each patient can only have up to three visitors at a time.  I am now paranoid, though,  that I am going to have a loud visitor who cusss a lot, or a teen mom who bring in all of her teen friends.   GRR!! Knock on wood that we get someone quiet like us!!

2.  Given the above,  Rob can not spend the night at the hospital with me.  He is bound by visiting hours (9am-9pm).  That means I am going to spend the night alone with an infant.  This makes me incredibly anxious since I do not have a lot of experience (read ANY) with newborns...

Hmmm....

The other hospital choice for us notes on their website that fathers are allowed to spend the night.  Hmmm.  Will this make us change our mind if everything else is equal??

  1. Yikes! Those are some MAJOR cons in my opinion. I would not be a happy camper to not only have to share a room, but also to not be able to have my hubby there with me all night. I would definitely check out the other hospital.

  2. I agree with Mrs. K. That's 2 big cons!! I don't know what I would do if my husband couldn't stay with me and I had to be in a room with a stranger....ahhh!! It's totally up to your comfort level, though. You could at least go on the other hospital's tour and see how you like it :-) Good luck!
