What's New With Scott? This week Scott weighs a little over 4 pounds and has passed the 17-inch mark. But once you add in the placenta, amniotic fluid, and extra blood, mom has got at least 10 pounds of baby and their life-support gear. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.
Sleep? I get so tired so easily these days. I think going to Boston for my conference and my Phd commencement was too tiring for me. I spent all day today trying to recuperate.
Best moment this week? Pregnancy? Rob played my favorite game with Scott, and Scott played back! He touched my belly, and Scott kicked back. Everything else? Big week!! PhD commencement! Rob got a job offer! Fantastic conference experience in Boston.
Food cravings: Champagne! We went out for a celebratory brunch, and I really really wanted champagne.
Sex of the Baby: Boy!
Belly button in or out? Still in, and I think no where close to popping out.
Movement: The rolls are especially entertaining. That and Scott loves to push to the right side of my belly. I touch my stomach and the right feels significantly firmer.
What I miss? Pre-pregnancy energy.
What I'm looking forward to: Birthing classes. Second hospital tour. Preparing to move to Virginia!
