The Bad: Well, two weeks ago, Scott was evaluated by the county's Early Intervention Program for a language delay. He's not talking much. As of March 14 (our meeting), he was only saying "hello" consistently. He did quality. The state has one month to find us a free speech therapist. I'll admit, hearing that Scott was behind enough to qualify for speech therapy did shake me; however, after much much thought, I have decided this is a fantastic opportunity for Scott. He's going to have access to a specialist and that will only make him a stronger talked when he decides to talk. The therapist gave us some great things to try.
The Good: Just under two weeks later, Scott has already gained new words! And he's babbling more. He's now saying/signing the following words:
- Milk (signing)
- More (signing)
- Down
- Up
- Hi
Go Scott!! Mommy is super proud of the gains you've made in such a short period of time.
He will do great!! Speech therapy works wonders for so many children & starting early will give him such a leg up. I am sure he will be talking up a storm in no time at all.
ReplyDeleteGo Scott! Keep up the great work momma!
